Pollinator Path
We have pollinators to thank for every third mouthful we eat. Not only do insects such as bees, butterflies and moths pollinate our food crops, they're also vital for the survival of other wild plants that support so much of our wildlife. Yet they have seen a dramatic decline in the UK over recent years due to habitat loss, climate change and the use of pesticides.
We want to help reverse this trend by creating the Clerkenwell Pollinator Path!
Clerkenwell Pollinator Path
In 2025 - working closely with the ecological charity, Pollinating London Together, Islington Parks Service, The Charterhouse and 15 publicly accessible green spaces across Clerkenwell - this community-led project is delivering:
Pollinator ecologist to conduct 4 pollinator surveys across 15 green spaces in the Clerkenwell ward from Spring through Autumn
Individual reports on each of the sites at the end of the season, using the Pollinating London Together evaluation framework, which assesses pollinator activity in the space and suggests tailored recommendations for how to make the site more pollinator-friendly;
Results & Recommendations Event to share the findings and recommendations with as many people as possible! Get your free ticket here to find out pollinator survey results and recommendations on how to support pollinators store in Clerkenwell, presented by Pollinating London Together. The event is taking place at The Charterhouse on 8 December, 5.30 pm and the presentation will also be live-streamed on Instagram at 6pm @stjohnsgarden.ec1
A "Clerkenwell Pollinator Toolkit" combining insights from across the surveys to suggest how green spaces - large and small - in Clerkenwell can support pollinators, empowering everyone who cares for a local green space, back garden or window box to implement effective changes, improve the abundance and biodiversity of pollinator species and strengthen the resilience of nature in EC1.
A plan for funding and implementing recommendations in 2026!
